New Member Process-
WEEK 1,2,3 -
During the beginning of our new member process, the new members focus on Greek Life as a whole. This includes learning the Greek Alphabet, some of the other chapters on Charlotte's campus, and some of the different leadership positions that can be held.
WEEK 4,5 -
The process is then followed by how the fraternity was established nationally, and how the chapter was established here in Charlotte. They will learn about our founders, how we became into existence, the creed, and the meanings behind the short stories written in our new member book. They will be given a "big brother" during week 4, and a paddle will be started. Big brothers will share their bloodlines with their little brother, so that he can follow where his "family" came from.
WEEK 6,7,8,9 -
The leather section of the paddle will be completed during this time frame. Also, the new member class will go on a trip with their new member educator and some brothers to another chapter in the United States. It is usually a chapter that is a few hours driving distance away from UNC-Charlotte. During this "new member retreat" the new members will be able to meet members, and observe the structure of the other chapter. Also, during this time frame the new members will complete a "new member project". The new member educator and the class will come up with the project, which can be community based or an improvement within the Psi Delta property.
WEEK 10 -
Initiation will take place at the end of this week. New members are encouraged to review all information learned during the new member process.
THROUGHOUT THE PROCESS -
We instill morals and good values throughout the entire new member process to teach each new member how to be true gentleman. A Greek Life Education class is taken online through our Nationals, which needs to passed with at least an 80% success rate. This online information session includes the topics of alcohol, hazing, and sexual assault. We are committed to scholarship. Each new member will be expected to maintain a GPA above a 2.5, but we always like to see it higher. Community Service will be highly regarded during the new member process. As a fraternity, we enjoy to give back to our community through planned events during the semester.
To be a Chi Phi is to be a chivalrous gentleman. We expect our new members to gain an element of etiquette, demeanor, and proper social graces during the new member process.
